The Kogi State Government played host to visiting Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 17 Of The National Institute Of Security Studies (NISS), Abuja on a study tour of Kogi State.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, His Excellency, Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo says his administration was poised to consolidate on the security architecture of the past administration by putting in check crime and criminality.
Represented by His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu, maintained that this necessitated the distribution of over one hundred (100) brand new patrol vehicles as well as forty four (44) motorcycles distributed recently to State Vigilante across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.
He announced that more of the vehicles are underway to be distributed to all the Security Agencies in the State.
Governor Ododo asserted that Kogi State is bounded by ten States including the Federal Capital Territory, hence cannot afford to be a heaven for crime and criminality.
The Governor assured the participants of their comfort and security as they go about their study.
Highlights of the ceremony include presentation of plaque and a publication to the Governor.
However, after the opening ceremony, the Executive Intelligence Management Course participants settled down for study receiving three papers.
The first paper was on "Overview Of Security Situation in Kpgi State by Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), State Security Adviser.
Second paper was delivered by the Hon. Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Adeniyi A. Helen on "Artificial Intelligence, Security and Emerging Economies in Abuja, Challenges and Prospects".
The third and final lecture for the day was taken at the Nigerian- Korean Friendly Institute, Lokoja by the Institute Rector, Mr. Williams Charles Oluwatoyin, Ph.D on "Artificial Intelligence, Security In An Emerging Economies In Africa, Challenges & Prospect".
The shift of study ground to the Institute affords the Faculty members and participants the opportunity to access facilities at the Institute.
The team was shown around to some colonial heritages such as the spot where the flag of Royal Niger Company was lowered and the British Flag (Union Jack) hoisted on 1st January,1900 as well as visitation to the National Commission for Museum and Colonial Monuments, Museum of Colonial History in Lokoja among others.
