Kogi State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones has advised the Students of the Faculty of Arts, Federal University Lokoja to strives for academic excellence and embrace value education in order to build a global worth that would make the society proud.
The Commissioner made this known at the Second Edition of the Faculty of Arts Students Association Lecture Series tagged "Building a Global Worth Through Academic Excellence and Valuable Education" held at the Students Multipurpose Center Federal University, Felele Lokoja,
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director Tertiary and Continuous Education, Ministry of Education Mallam. Abdulrahman Albasheer described Education as important and sustainable foundation for the economic and political development of the society.
In his words, "In today's world, Education is more important than ever before. It is the foundation upon which we build our future and the key to unlocking our true potential"
He noted that with right Education, they can achieve anything they set their minds to do.
Explaining further, the Commissioner enjoined the students to seek for valuable Education that would help them develop their skills and the knowledge needed to succeed in today's global market place.
According to him, to achieve this, it required proper planning and adequate funding, adding that they must be willing to step out of their comfort zones, embrace new ideas, try to learn from people around them and be willing to take risk if they must grow and succeed in life.
Building a Global Worth he said takes time and effort, but it is a worthy goal to strive to attain, saying that with hard work, dedication and their commitment to great things, they would make a lasting impact on the world.
Kogi State Government under the leadership of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo he said is irrevocably committed to ensuring that the quality of Education in the State meet the global standard, noting that the allocation of 30% of the State budget to Education as against the UNESCO benchmark of 26% is geared towards raising the Educational bar in the State.
He stated that the establishment of two State Universities (Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara and Kogi State University, kabba) with in the period of four years is a feet that would take long to be rivaled in Nigeria.
