A COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE CONGRESS OF THE STATE INFORMATION CHAPEL OF THE NIGERIAN UNION OF JOURNALISTS HELD AT THE NEWSROOM, STATE SECRETARIAT COMPLEX, ON THE 2ND OF OCTOBER, 2024.
PREAMBLE.
The Nigerian Union of Journalists, State Information Chapel held her meeting on the 2nd of October, 2024 in Lokoja and the following resolutions were made:
1) The Information Chapel Chairman, Mallam Abubakar Shuaibu briefed the house about progress made so far and thanked members for attending.
2) Congress agreed to reinvigorate the Welfare Scheme payment hence inaugurated a 3--man committee , namely:
A) Grace Oguche- Chairperson
B) Buhari Fatai- Member
C) Pauline Okotie- Secretary
3) House charged the committee to come up with modalities suitable for long term sustainability of the welfare scheme and report back within two weeks.
4) Congress also conducted bye election to fill up vacant positions in the chapel EXCO and unanimously approved:
Mariam Adams Teni as Financial Secretary & Gloria Amodu as Auditor.
5) Congress admonished herself on the importance of abiding by the constitution of the Union which mandates holding congress as and when due.
6) The Chapel blog nujicnewsvine.com.ng was unveiled and Congress decided that Information Officers should forward their stories to “Strictly 4 info Officers” & “NUJ Information Chapel” platforms for editing and onward upload to the blog.
7) Congress inaugurated a 3- man End-Of- The- Year- Get- Together committee namely:
A) Abah Benjamin – Chairman
B) Grace Oguche - Member
C) Awokeson Rita Prisicillia – Secretary
To come up with ideas geared towards fundraiser among others within one month.
8) Congress also mandated members to be regular at, and punctual to NUJ activities as this is key to strengthening unity among members.
