Kogi Deputy Gov Condoles Family of Late Mall Seidu Yunusa Aruwa in Ejule
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Mallam Seidu Yunusa Aruwa, who tragically lost his life while in the hands of his abductors in Achigili along Anyigba-Itobe route.
The Deputy Governor delivered the message on Thursday, during a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area. He described the demise of Mallam Seidu as a painful loss not only to his family but also to the Ejule community, stressing the level of betrayal felt due to the involvement of former business associates in his untimely death. He said that the community will deeply miss his absence.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to an inclusive strategy aimed at combating insecurity and eradicating crime from the state. He issued a stern warning to all criminal elements within the area to desist from their activities or be prepared to face the full force of the law.
Comrade Joel urged traders engaged in the cattle trade, as well as prospective buyers, to refrain from going deep into the bush for buying of livestock, advising instead for the use of designated cattle markets to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
He called on the people of the community to remain calm and peaceful, assuring them that security agencies have been directed to pursue the perpetrators of this heinous crime and their accomplices, and bring them to justice.
The Deputy Governor expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Director General, Kogi State Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Hon. Muhammed Nasiru Alfa, as well as the contributions of hunters, local vigilante groups, and conventional security agencies in their tireless fight against insecurity in the area.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and beseech God to give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Mall Seidu Yunusa Aruwa was tragically abducted on the 5th of June 2025, a day before Sallah, by his Fulani business associates who lured him into the bush under the pretense of purchasing cows. He was subsequently held captive and later passed on in their hands. He is survived by his grieving wife and 8 children.
