Kogi Deputy Governor Leads ICDA Executives in Visit to Governor Ododo
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, on Monday, led a delegation of executives of the Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA) in a visit to His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, in Abuja.
Accompanying the Deputy Governor on this official visit were Commissioners, elected representatives, state government appointees, former lawmakers, heads of institutions, and various other government officials, from kogi east. The delegation was warmly received by Governor Ododo and his team.
Setting the tone for the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Alhaji Abdullai, the President of the Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA), said that the visit was to formally introduce the newly elected National Executive Council of ICDA to the Governor. And to seek collaboration with the state government to improve the progress and development of the Igala nation and Kogi State as a whole.
In expressing gratitude to the Governor for entrusting his Deputy with important state assignments, he commended him for positively changing the narrative of Kogi State, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, security, and youth empowerment. He lauded the Governor for appointing six commissioners and many other aides from Kogi East.
The ICDA President also expressed appreciation for the Governor's plans to rehabilitate several roads in Kogi East, including the Ibaji road, Idah internal roads, Abejukolo township road, and Anyigba township road, among others. He urged the Governor to intensify efforts in addressing the persistent issues of inadequate power supply and security challenges in Kogi East, specifically the rampant activities of kidnappers.
Responding, the Governor conveyed his gratitude for their visit and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of kogi state effectively. He emphasized that the deep connection and unity among all ethnic groups in Kogi State would cultivate peace and foster development.
He noted that the recognition of significant projects and sound policies by the citizens would motivate the government to pursue further projects, saying that they are merely fulfilling their constitutional obligations. He expressed his commitment to partner with ICDA and other socio-cultural groups for the overall peace and development of Kogi State.
Governor Ododo affirmed that their requests align with the government's existing plans and ongoing developmental efforts, assuring that his administration will continue to improve on the present gains to enhance the quality of life for the people. He added that their visit served as a valuable reminder and a confirmation of their collective readiness to move the state forward.
The visit signifies a commitment to unity and partnership between the state government and the ICDA for the betterment of Kogi State. It sets a positive tone for future cooperation and endeavors aimed at improving the socio-economic and cultural landscape of the Igala nation.
