Kogi Deputy Gov Hosts African Wrestling Champion, Ali King, on Courtesy Visit
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, on Wednesday received the professional wrestler and reigning African Middleweight Champion, Ali King Attai Muhammed, at his residence in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area.

In his remarks, Ali King said that his visit was to officially inform the Deputy Governor of his upcoming international wrestling contest against Kris Forbe of the United Kingdom, scheduled to hold on December 13 in Lokoja, Kogi State. He sought the Deputy Governor’s assistance in drawing the attention of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for support towards hosting the historic event.
Ali King stressed that the bout would not only draw global wrestling icons to Kogi but also position the Confluence State as a hub for international sporting entertainment. He lamented that while football often dominates the Nigerian sporting landscape, other disciplines like wrestling deserve equal recognition. The African champion pledged to raise Nigeria’s profile in global wrestling and assured the government that he would deliver a resounding victory.

Responding, the Deputy Governor commended Ali King for promoting the image of Kogi State positively on the international stage. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to creating opportunities for youths to excel across diverse fields, including sports.

He assured Ali King of the state’s support and promised to brief the Governor on the development, while offering prayers for the wrestler’s success in the forthcoming fight and future endeavors.

Ali King, also known as “De Action Disaster”, hails from Okpo in Olamaboro local government area, Kogi State. He is one of Africa’s most decorated wrestlers, holding titles such as the African Middleweight Champion, Nigerian National Security, Peace and Unity Trophy, and serving as a Federation Peace Ambassador. He has earned global recognition, currently ranked as the number one world middleweight contender by Valor Wrestling of Scotland.

The highlight of the courtesy visit was the presentation of Ali King’s championship belts, trophies, and accolades to the Deputy Governor.
