Kogi Deputy Governor Calls for More Christians in Politics
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, has urged Christians to take active roles in politics, stressing that leadership should not be abandoned under the belief that “politics is a dirty game.”
He made the call when he received the Christian Association of Traditional Rulers, Kogi East Chapter, led by Pastor (Dr.) Sunday Onaji, at his residence in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area.
Joel Salifu noted that when righteous people lead, society benefits, adding that politics remains one of the potent ways to leadership. He praised former Governor Yahaya Bello for promoting religious tolerance, including building the first chapel at the Government House, and giving the state a righteous successor after the heart of the people.
The Deputy Governor assured that the present administration, under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, will continue to partner with all religious groups for the progress of the state, while calling for sustained prayers for the governor’s success.
Earlier, the Chairman of the group, Pastor Sunday Onaji, commended the state government for its achievements in infrastructure, welfare, and security, pledging the group’s prayers and support. He also invited the Deputy Governor to their forthcoming Kings and Queens Banquet in October.
The visit was rounded-up with the presentation of a Bible as symbol of unity, and prayers of success for the state government was offered by the group to the Deputy Governor.
