New Education Policies, Kogi Education Commissioner Visits Schools to Monitor Compliance.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education Honorable Wemi Jones on Tuesday went round schools in Lokoja the State Capital to Monitor the level of Compliance of schools in the State to the New Education Policies.

The Policies are; the New School Curriculum, Ban on Graduation Ceremonies, Customized Notebooks and Textbooks and Teachers Registration Council Certificate as a prerequisite for Teaching.

He stated that the New Policies are carefully designed to ensure that Students learned subjects that will be beneficial to them in the future.

According to him, the policies are to ensure that students at the levels of Basic and Secondary Education learned things that will make them productive and self reliance.

He emphasized that as from next year, WAEC and NECO Examinations would be fully based on the New Curriculum, saying that there is need for schools to adhere strictly to the Curriculum.

The Commissioner also advised teachers teaching in the State to make use of the window provided by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria to obtain a professional certificate that will qualify them to teach, saying that at the end of the window no one will be qualified to teach in the State without the Teachers Registration Council Certificate.

Responding, the Heads of Schools visited commended the Commissioner for the visit and assured him of the full implementations of  the new curriculum and other policies of the State Government in Education.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Special Adviser On Education Honorable Abdullahi Abdulmalik, Senior Special Assistant on Private Education Institution Honorable Clement Odaudu and the Director Basic and Secondary Education Mr. Mathew Salami.

The schools visited are: Scintillate International Model School, Effective International School, Majesty International College, Lokoja, Harmony International School and Celebrity International School.
