Kogi Deputy Gov Calls for Passionate Prayers for Gov Ododo, Nigerian Leaders
It was a night of deep worship and genuine prayers at the Government House Chapel, Lokoja on Friday, as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, led christians from different denominations in the October End of the Month Vigil.
Speaking under an atmosphere of prayer, Comrade Joel Salifu said that “prayers and sincere support are the greatest gifts we can offer our Governor and leaders.” He assured the congregation that God has heard their prayers for the Governor, praying that his Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will enjoy God's protection and strength throughout his eight years in office and beyond.
He likened the Governor’s many task to a computer under heavy load, reminding the people that only prayer can refresh, renew, and empower him to continue leading with wisdom and courage. “God told me that Kogi State and Nigeria needs prayers,” he said passionately, urging every believer to see intercession as a must do.
In his charge, Evangelist Job Sanni Apaana, the Kogi Central CAN Coordinator, reiterated the biblical call to pray for kings and those in authority so that peace and righteousness may reign, citing 1Timothy 2, vs 1 to 2. He admonished Christians to not only pray but also participate in governance, while warning against worshipping money, material things, and worldly titles.
The End-of-Month Vigil, an initiative of the Deputy Governor, has become a spiritual meeting where servants of God from different churches lift Kogi State and Nigeria before God in prayers, praying for peace, progress, good leadership, and God's favor upon all leaders and their families.
