The newly elected Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Information Chapel, has officially assumed office following a successful election into various leadership positions on 8th July 2026.
In his welcome address, the newly elected Chairman Mr Solomon Musa, expressed profound appreciation to members of the chapel for the confidence reposed in the new executive. He pledged to lead with transparency, fairness, and dedication while prioritizing the welfare of members and the advancement of the chapel.
The Chairman emphasized that the success of the new administration would depend on the collective support and cooperation of all members. He urged journalists to remain united, uphold the ethics of the profession, and work together to promote responsible journalism in the interest of the public and the image of the chapel.
He assured members that the new executive would operate an open-door policy, encourage constructive engagement, and initiate programs aimed at strengthening professional capacity, promoting members’ welfare, and fostering harmony within the union.
The Chairman further called on all elected officers to discharge their responsibilities with commitment, integrity, and accountability, stressing that leadership is a call to selfless service rather than personal interest.
He reaffirmed the EXCO’s commitment to building a vibrant and progressive Information Chapel that will continue to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Union of Journalists while contributing meaningfully to the development of the journalism profession.
Members of the chapel congratulated the newly elected executive and expressed confidence in its ability to deliver purposeful leadership, pledging their full support towards achieving the goals of the union.
