The Kogi State Local Government Service Commission has embarked on training of it's Staff for the upcoming 2022, 2023 and 2024 Staff Promotion Exercise Slated to commence on Monday, 7th October, 2024.
The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Elder Sunday Odeh, in his opening remark, Thanked His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for graciously approving the backlog of promotions which he described as a reward for hardwork to meriting Civil Servants who have shown dedication and expertise in their various endeavors.
Elder Odeh went further to thank the Chairman of the Commission for making sure all necessary arrangements is on top gear to ensure the success of the promotion Exercise.
These he cited does not exclude funding, advise and consultation with the Governor on behalf of the Commission.
He charged the various Schedule Officers of the 21 Local government Areas going to the the 3 Senatorial discrits (East, West and Central) to be diligent in carrying out their duties and shun any form of unethical Practice.
In his Opening Speech, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon Adabenege Adams praised the Members of Management of the Commission for deeming it fit to train the Schedule Officers on modalities of the promotion Exercise.
He added that promotions, been one of the Statutory functions of the Commission is a Progressive Accension, from one carrier Ladder to another usually a higher one.
Hon Adams went ahead to praise the Chief Civil Servant Of the State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for His Magnanimous approval of 3 promotions at a go for the Local government Staffers.
He charged the Schedule Officers to put in their best in the course of the Exercise as they are Representatives of the Commission at the Grassroot.
To this end, the Chairman went ahead to declare the workshop open.
The resource Person who also doubles as the Director Training of the Commission, Mr Olusanmi Olugbemisola started the Training Session by thanking the Hon Chairman for saddling him with the task of Training the Schedule Officers.
Mr Olusanmi defined promotion as the process of raising an Officer to a higher position/rank.
He noted that all Officers who fall within the field of selection for any Promotion shall be considered except those who are under disciplinary action and also all promotions shall become effective only when it's been approved by the Kogi State Local Government Service Commission.
He went ahead to outline conditions for Promotion such as Vacancy, confirmation of appointment and maturity of the post.
He also outlined the 3 categories of Staff in the Civil Service and Various grade levels as this will assist the Officers in the field.
At the end , the director Training charged the Schedule Officers on Competence and accurate record taking and documentation in their various units.
