Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the sum of N542, 416,784 for the payment of 2025 JAMB , Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) , Basic Six and Common Entrance Examinations for pupils and students in Public Schools across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.
The State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones made this known at a Press Conference in Lokoja, on Tuesday 4th of February, 2025.
The Sum of N145, 476, 984 has been released for the payment of Basic Six and Common Entrance Examination for 25,100 in Public Primary Schools, while N215,220,000 was approved the payment of 30,500 JSS3 sitting for this year Junior WAEC (BECE ) and the Sum of N181,719,800 has been released for the payment JAMB for 18,734 SSS3 students according to the Commissioner.
The Commissioner stated that this amount added with the N661,310,200 released for the payment of WAEC, State Government has spent the sum of N1,203,726,984 for the payment External and Internal Examination for students in Public Schools in the year 2024/2025 .
He stated that the implications for the payment of these Examinations Fees would increased the school enrollment rate and reduced the Out of School Children, saying that the payment of these fees in 2024 saw the increment of enrollment rate by 18%.
The Governor of the State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has shown an undeniable Commitment to the overall growth of Education with these gestures, he noted.
He thanked the immediate past Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for laying a solid foundation for the educational development of the State.
The Commissioner who advised parents not to pay any money in the name WAEC, JAMB, BECE, Basic Six and Common Entrance Examinations warned those who would like to short change the system that the State Government would not spear anyone found wanting.
