The Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency (KSDMSMA) has lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's unwavering commitment to Quality Healthcare Delivery in the state.
The Executive Secretary of KSDMSMA, Pharm. Salamat Onize, gave the commendation in her office during an exclusive interview with the Press in Lokoja.
While on tour round the Agency's Drugs and Medical Warehouse, Pharm. Onize expressed her gratitude to the Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo for prioritizing regular supply and distribution of both Essential and Non Essential Drugs to government owned healthcare facilities across the state.
Speaking further, she explained that, "In a bid to ensure Constant Drugs Supply to it's Health Facilities, uninimously, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr Mrs Folashade Ayo-Ade Arike PhD., the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, and the Attorney General of the State, along with the state government, took a proactive step of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with seven pharmaceutical companies to ensure timely delivery of Quality-Assured Drugs, and this partnership has yielded positive results, with adequate Drugs and Health Commodities being distributed to both the Primary and Secondary Health Facilities across the state"
Speaking on the activities of the Agency, Pharm. Salamat disclosed the efforts of the Agency in the area of Advocacy Visits to tertiary hospitals, admonishing them to patronize the Agency for quality drugs, she said, responses have been positive so far, as they have made commitments to working together in achieving a unified goal of Single Supply Chain System in the State.
She highlighted some of the state government's latest achievements in the area of Health Care Delivery, which includes, provision of free Anti Malarial Drugs and Test Kits to government owned hospitals, provision of a brand-new transformer for the Agency, as well as granting of approval for the renovation of the Agency warehouse.
"I am optimistic that, in no distance time , Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency will be a Centre for drugs production, Quality Assurance test, Hub for Drugs Delivery to Public and Private Health Institutions, as well as the centre of training for Intern and IT students"
She commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza for his Pivotal and fatherly roles in ensuring the fulfilment of the mandate of the Agency.
The governor's commitment to Quality Healthcare is in line with his administration's overall goal of ensuring access to High-quality and Affordable Healthcare Services for the people of Kogi State.
